(6) Significant Delays or Involuntary Cancellations. The following additional rules and regulations apply to cards delivered via USPS, FedEx, or delivered electronically via email: Here is the relevant excerpt from the airline's Contract of Carriage: A full 5 day delay in getting to my destination just would flat not work. At my job, I’d be screwed bc we take PTO on a scheduled pre-determined basis. Sure they likely got a voucher/payment for the flights, but they sure as hell didn’t get the $ for the Disney tickets or the hotel costs. The next flight they booked them on was a full 5 days later. The one I read stated ppl that had reservations with a group of 14 to go to Disney were bumped bc past cancelled flights needed the seats. Southwest needs to get their shit together bc the stories are “wow” level bad. And they’re hub-and-spoke, so the issues that Southwest just experienced shouldn’t be an occurrence nationwide like it did this past week. Not the cheapest for sure, but the planes are generally nice and updated, staff friendly & accommodating, and the cattle call lines to get on the planes aren’t a thing. Most others require you to drive to Canada & deal with that whole thing. Still serviceable, and we’d fly them again in a heartbeat, especially with the price we paid at the time - $100’s less than any other airline, and other than a stop in DC, we went straight across the pond. The flight attendants were nice, the food was good, but the planes were definitely dated. United we used bc it was the only international from our airport without copious amounts of layovers before getting out of the country to go to Europe. We’ve disliked them so badly that we said we’d just deal with the layover the next time… it’s just not worth it. The only positive was that to Cancun it was the only flight that didn’t have a layover. After paying for our checked luggage, a preferred seat, and (can’t remember what else), the tickets ended up being nearly as expensive had we just booked another airline. The customer service is abhorrent, you have to pay for literally everything - including a carryon (and that is more expensive for less weight than checking luggage), and their flight attendants I swear they pulled out of the gutters of the trashiest neighborhoods - super unprofessional and unpleasant & they FOR SURE don’t want to be there. We flew Spirit bc it was either go with them, spend $400 more on the All Inclusive to Mexico (and have layovers), or buy our own and waste the points. We’ve flown on Spirit twice in the last few years and United. Please note: Moderators can remove posts/threads as they see fit outside of the above rules.
